Smaller control bar

By ghostzero, 1 year ago.

Hi,

is there a way to minimize the size of the control bar because I think it is a bit big for many video files, especially such small ones like the one that was used in the demonstration, it looks way too big there.

You can minimize it if you edit the flash file. I don't think the bar is too big. A 40px bar is pretty standard among video players.

Though that is true but still. Would be good to have an easier way to do so.

Regarding edit the flash file, wouldn't I need Flash Studio to do so?

Yes, you would need Adobe Flash to do that.

I try not to gravedig on webboards, however, I dislike duplicating topics as well. Aside from making the controls smaller, what about a version of this that has controls that only appear when you move your mouse over the player, that is, an autohide option. Looking on another topic, I see that this is still an AS 2.0 project, and I know that hiding controls is something I've only seen is AS 3.0 based players, so I suppose the real question is how soon you suppose you might have an AS 3.0 player.

It should be happening very soon. Keep checking back. I hope to have it done before the end of the year.

That's good to hear. We're actually using this player in a few commercial websites and I have a concern that the reason it's not playing a couple super-large FLV files on a client's site is that an AS2 player can only handle so much, either in resolution or perhaps it's an issue with file size.

In my experience with AS2 and AS3, there should really not be a noticable difference in the way they handle large files. We hope to make the conversion to AS3 very soon, however, the AS2 player should be able to handle any file/resolution you're working with.
