Hi,
Where is the license agreement for this wonderful player?
Are we allowed to modify it and distributed with a commercial product in any way we want?
It’s possible to skin, but only because it is open source (ie: there isn’t anything built in to skin it). If you just want to change the colors, use the fg and bg options.
Shouldn’t there be a license file bundled with the download? It’s really hard to find out what kind of license this player is released under (BSD, Gnu GPL, MIT), the only mention is on this comment thread. Open Source licenses can differ in effect and intent, so it’s really useful to know.
works great with ats-CMS and is used to show all the movies on the website.
the CMS and all the features including the FLV player are released as open source GNU on google codes http://code.google.com/p/ats-cms/
I ran into your website looking for a FLV player for the site I was making for my school’s video podcast team. and this was a big help! because youtube is blocked in teh school’s network as well as other video sites, so I wanted to host our own video to make things work. And this was a great help!
Why not stop by our site at http://v2.zeighy.net to see the big help this did! and this did work great! and compatible with several different browsers.
to comment number 15, this did work with drupal, we use drupal for our site,.. you either have to allow full html for the code to work and dsiplay the player and video, or allow the EMBED tag in filtered HTML format then strip down the javascript leaving the EMBED tags… then it should work ok.
Really wonderful player,I have started to embed videos in my blog using this flv player which is surelly better than any other flv player around.check this link to see the player in action-(http://lessons4medicos.blogspot.com/2009/02/fantastic-voyage-inside-cellvideo.html.)
Hey I freelance, I develop web apps and static sites, theres this client of mine who was once intervied by BBC, I was thinking that putting up the interview on her website would be a great Idea, for which I was looking for an Open Source, free player, your player is amazing and simple. So would it be okay, If I use you player and at the bottom of the page, give you credits for the same, something like “The videos on this website are played on OSFlv” or maybe “For the video player, we thank OSFlv” something like that. Please let me know buddy
cheers !

@Vinay - Absolutely. If you go to the Downloads page, you can read through the license the player is under (it is also in the download package). Basically you can do anything with the player as long as you don’t claim that you made it. So technically, you don’t have to post credit to us on the page, but we would appreciate it. Thanks
I am using your player over at a Louisiana web design project I am doing for McNeese State University. http://www.mcneesebands.com/sights-and-sounds/ Thanks for the great player it is super easy to use.
You wrote that your flv player can be used in commercial projects, as long as your copyright will not be changed. So I think it would be better to release it under MIT Licence to guarantee that your work is free for commercial usage. This is because GPL allows commercial usage, but says that the work which includes your player has to be published under terms of GPL, too.
And if you will publish your player on terms of MIT Licence, I would suggest to add a PayPal donate-button to your website, because at least companies will want to thank you for this step
Hi! I’m sorry, but I am no longer using the osflv player at the moment- I am not showing my videos for now, it’s too outdated and I’m focussing on other stuff, so could you please take the link off the gallery? Thanks for everything, if/when I am making videos again and if I will use the player again, I’ll be sure to let you know about it

Spent all day trying to find a flv player that is easy to install with support for multiple video’s per page. I was so happy to have discovered this.. I plan to use this for all of our flv video’s from now on. thank you.
We are using oslflv player stripped of some javascript(it was the only working for us option), in a lightbox (colorbox). Works well, however, a bit jerky, not sure if anything could be done about it ??

great player , better than jerowi or whatever

License is GNU / Open Source. You can do anything but say you made it - and if you put it in anything, just put in there somewhere that I made it.

great player how can I build a skin for it?
February 25th, 2010 at 1:44 pm
Currently there is no way to skin it. You would have to open the FLA file directly and edit the elements.
